GRAND REIMS - MOBILITY BY COLAS ADAPTS ANAIS FOR VULNERABLE URBAN USERS

With the rise of active modes of travel such as walking and cycling in urban areas, cohabitation with motorized vehicles is becoming a major safety issue.

Urban areas are seeing an increase in interaction between pedestrians, cyclists and motorists, so it's essential to ensure the safety of these modes of travel without hindering essential vehicle traffic in the city, in order to promote peaceful cohabitation.

Aware of this challenge, Grand Reims has implemented a policy aimed at promoting the use of bicycles as a daily mode of transport, thus contributing to the cohesion of the region and a better quality of life for its residents.

CONTEXT AND OBJECTIVE

In this context, Mobility by Colas has made a two-year commitment alongside Grand Reims to adapt its ANAIS offer to specific areas where vulnerable users are particularly exposed to the risks associated with motorized vehicles such as cars, vans and trucks.

ANAIS, our decision-making tool, is designed to identify and take preventive action in areas of interest where “near-accidents” occur.

By applying ANAIS to the urban areas of Grand Reims, we will be able to detect and analyze areas of conflicting use between active and motorized modes, enabling us to effectively target development adaptations to improve safety for all road users.

PROCESS
  • In-depth analysis of alert zones in the business tool.
  • Triggering and follow-up of field studies.
  • Recommendations for improvements from a leader in road maintenance.

WHAT'S NEXT?

In a second phase, the project involves the geographical deployment of the ANAIS solution to detect at-risk peri-urban areas in Grand Reims, in particular those linking the 143 communes of the urban area. This extension will ensure continuity in the safety of vulnerable users throughout the region.
